Nightingale

Hi Friends!

Nightingale Eras of Life

We are back with another review for September's book of the Month, "Nightingale" by Kristin Hannah. Well, I will start off by saying the book touches on a lot of sensitive topics, so if you decide to read the book, a major trigger warning. I did not know what the book was about before reading it besides the fact that it is highly recommended. I personally enjoy reading books without knowing what I am getting into. I know others may not feel the same. I will try my best not to provide any spoilers in case people have not read the book.

Well, let's dive in. I loved the book. The book takes place around WW2, and growing up in school was a time period that I enjoyed learning about; for example, reading about Anne Frank was amazing to me. Growing up, I just had so much respect for her. Well, reading the book, although it was a historical fiction, Kristin Hannah's writing made it feel like I was reading a history book, which was amazing. I really enjoyed the book; it was from a different perspective on the war that I had never heard of or thought about, which was from the perspective of the people living in France. The book follows two sisters and their experiences throughout the war. Although they are polar opposites in personality, you can find yourself relating to both. I found myself wondering if I would have even been able to deal with certain situations the way they did. I wish I could say that I was that brave. The book was an emotional roller coaster for me, but I appreciated being brought along on the journey.

One thing about the book I loved was that I finished the book being satisfied, obviously sad. The ending was sad, and I cried, but I was satisfied; I felt like I had an answer to what happened to all the characters in the book. Anything that I could have been left wondering at the end of the book was answered, and I really appreciated that because I dislike when I finish a book and leave with so many unanswered questions, and the book isn't a series where the questions will be answered over time, so I applaud Kristin Hannah, on that.

Nightingale Eras of Life

I will definitely be reading more Kristin Hannah books in the future. Her writing is amazing, and although the book was an emotional roller coaster, I loved it. I was in tears by the being and was not expecting who the story was being told by at all, which made me cry more. Honestly, the book left me with even more respect than I had before for the people who lived and sacrificed so much during that period of time. I gave the book five stars on good reads, and I would definitely recommend people to read it. I feel that this is going to become one of the books kids have to read in English class. I hope you like the book as much as I did.

Let me know what you all thought about the book. I would love to hear if you liked it or didn't like it and why. Let's discuss it!
